Bitcoin at over 7,477 Euro: majority of Altcoins in Minus

The majority of the top 20 crypto currencies are recording moderate losses throughout the day until the editorial deadline. Bitcoin (BTC) has again exceeded the mark of 8,400 US dollars (7,477 euros).

Bitcoin rose by 2.8 percent over the course of the day and, according to foreignpolicyi.org, stood at 8,420 US dollars (7,495 euros) at the editorial deadline. Viewed over the week, the coin is up by almost 7.35 percent.

American digital asset management firm Grayscale claimed in a recently published study that Bitcoin had outperformed traditional assets by far during the trade war between the US and China.

BTC is starting to get used more often, especially for trading or in online casinos.

Ethereum (ETH) maintains its position as the largest Altcoin by market capitalization, which is approximately $27.3 billion (€24.3 billion). The second-largest Altcoin Ripple (XRP) had a market capitalisation of just under 16.7 billion US dollars (14.9 billion euros) at the time of going to press.

  1. According to Coin360, ETH Zurich has fallen by around 1.2 percent in the last 24 hours. At the time of going to press, ETH was about 257 US dollars (229 euros). Over the week, the coin recorded a plus of 3.5 percent.
  2. XRP has fallen by almost 1 percent in the last 24 hours and is currently around 0.396 US dollars (0.36 euros). Over the week the coin is 4.19 percent negative.

Among the top 20 crypto currencies, Binance Coin (BNB) has suffered the biggest loss. It fell by over 11 percent. At the editorial deadline, the total market capitalization of all crypto currencies was USD 266 billion (EUR 237 billion), a drop of around 3.87 percent compared with the previous week.

As Cointelegraph reported this morning, Binance, the largest crypto exchange, has announced that it has updated its terms of use. In particular, this included a restriction of services for US retailers and wholesalers.

The traditional U.S. equity market has seen only minor losses today. The S&P 500 fell by 0.33 percent and Nasdaq by 0.61 percent at the editorial deadline. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), on the other hand, rose by 0.44 percent over the day to the editorial deadline.

The major oil futures and indices recorded slight gains today. WTI Crude recorded a plus of 0.96 percent, Brent Crude a plus of 1.37 percent and Mars US a plus of 2.03 percent. According to OilPrice, the OPEC Basket rose by 0.82 percent and the Canadian Crude Index rose by 0.7 percent in the 24 hours to the editorial deadline.
